tower-herculesThe famous lighthouse known as the Torre de Hercules (The Tower of Hercules) de A Coruña houses a view which cannot be seen on pictures, and according to this, we make the most of some Carlos Pardellas’ pictures in order to get used to the idea of how it looks like on the inside, just in case we could not manage to get there.

This lighthouse stands on a hill which is located at 60 meters above sea level. Once we get there, the entrance costs 2 euros (these are, at least, the latest news I have) and then 234 steps are waiting for us in order to go up to its highest point where we can enjoy the amazing view of the city and the Sada, Ares, Ferrol and Betanzos rias.

In general terms, the tower is not in good condition. The damp and carelessness are quite remarkable. Just by entering the first floor, which by the way has a low roof, we can notice the poor lighting this place has. Let’s wait for the City Hall or the Port Authority to take the reins in this situation if we want to preserve in a good shape this World Heritage Site.
