The Pyrenees, the huge mountainous mountain range to the north that separates Spain from the rest of Europe, is a fascinating territory due to its nature. 450 kilometers from the Bay of Biscay to the Mediterranean, this is a natural border in which the water, forests and valleys prevail. So the Pyrenees are a synonym of adventure.
This huge mountains area hides some of the most beautiful landscapes from Spain. An excellent way of enjoying this extreme nature atmosphere is by means of practicing sports. And the fact is that the Pyrenees are a very living territory that incites the visitor to permanently take part on its amazing offers. If you like to be in touch with nature and the active tourism, the Spanish Pyrenees are the ideal place for spending your holidays.
The paradise of hiking
Hiking is what people practice the most. The whole mountain range is crossed by numerous paths either of short (SR) or long runs (LR). Among these passages the LR 11 known as Senda Pirenaica, which covers the whole massif from one extreme to the other, stands out. Also there are many other routes, signposted and less difficult, which start on the local towns. Any season is good to practice hiking, except in winter, when the snow covers the tops and the valleys from the Pyrenees.
For the bravest ones
To speak about the Pyrenees is, also, to speak about adventure sports. We propose you to practice some of these activities: climb and mountaineering in the Posets-Maladeta area, located in Huesca presided by the Aneto, and where the top heights are located; cannons descent in the Saw of Guara, paradise of the canyoneering; rafting and canoeing in the brave waters of the rivers, especially in the Noguera Pallaressa river, in Lleida; canoes descent for the flows of the Cinca and Altar, in Aragon, and the Navarrian stretch of the Bidasoa river; speleology; guidance activities
